Recap: BrideLux New York

In the world of Bridal Shows, Bridelux is a “bridal show of bridal shows”. I was in New York visiting my favorite wedding industry friends and doing a few site tours, and I had a free day on the day of the show so I jumped in the car with my friend and event designer Bob Conti to make a visit at the beautiful Intercontinental Barclay’s New York.

Of course, I strongly believe everyone should have a wedding planner, and that could mean you don’t need to go to a bridal show… however, it really was a nice experience that I think could be a fun “bridal” day of fun after Sunday Brunch.

I don’t often recommend bridal shows to my clients, but this particular one had a fab group of creatives showcasing (including some of my friends!), including the amazing Ceci Designs, Vivienne Westwood, Laduree, Mark Ingram, The Stylish Bride, Phillip Van Nostrand Photography, Beautini, and many more.

Because of the level of talent that was in the room, it was obviously beautiful and a great place to begin some inspirational conversation for the newly engaged.

I also loved that they had an educational layer added to this-which especially if a person was newly engaged and just beginning the planning process this could be a great place to start. Attendees had access to and could listen to some of my favorite friends speak on valuable topics. People like the talented Jes Gordon had some very valuable information for brides and what working with a planner / designer is like. The iconic Sylvia Weinstock entertained us with so much knowledge about the world of wedding cakes and the list really goes on.

Mark Ingram put together a fabulous mini fashion show sharing his stunning new collection against the backdrop of a choir singing. It was beautiful.

For me, being accustomed to being surrounded by all things wedding, the most valuable part of the day was spending time with so many amazing industry leaders that I adore since many stopped in to say hello and visit.

The evening concluded with a smaller group of industry pros in the penthouse suite experiencing a lovely Remy Martin Cognac tasting paired with a “sonic sommelier”… where the music changes with the flavor progression of the cognac. It was elevated and truly very special.

As I mentioned, bridal shows aren’t typically at the top of my list but I think this was a Sunday well spent.

My own little cheers to New York moment.
